LAST UPDATED ON: 01 April 2025
Discover the top 10 gardening influencers inspiring a global movement toward sustainable living. From backyard growers to homesteading experts, these creators are redefining the joy of growing your own.

The days are getting longer, the sun is shining (finally), and across the UK, people are heading back into their gardens. Whether it’s planting tomatoes on a windowsill or designing a fully-fledged backyard haven, green-fingered gardening influencers are offering up all the inspiration needed for a season of growth.

Gardening, homesteading, and “eating off the land” influencers are leading a quiet revolution, reconnecting us with the rhythms of nature and a way of life many have forgotten in our tech-heavy, on-demand world. Through social media, these creators are reigniting ancestral instincts, teaching audiences the joy of growing, harvesting, and cooking their own food. From aesthetic cottage gardens to DIY compost hacks, the rise of gardening influencers shows no signs of slowing down.

In today’s fast-paced environment, these influencers are more than just trendsetters, they’re custodians of tradition. While grocery delivery is more accessible than ever, conversations around rising food costs, ultra-processed ingredients, and sustainability have driven a renewed interest in self-sufficiency. These creators are answering that call, spotlighting a lifestyle that’s grounded in resourcefulness, biodiversity, and intention.

What is a Gardening Influencer?

A Gardening influencer is a content creator who specialises in sharing insights, inspiration, and practical advice about sustainable living, self-sufficiency, and reconnecting with nature. These influencers act as modern-day stewards of traditional knowledge, guiding their audiences toward a more grounded lifestyle.

Gardening and homesteading influencers cater to a variety of interests and niches, including:

  • Sharing daily snapshots of gardens and growth updates.
  • Offering practical advice on topics like composting, preserving food, or self-sufficient living.
  • Curating seasonal tips on planting, harvesting, or cooking with the homegrown ingredients.
  • Advocating for causes such as sustainability, permaculture, and ethical land stewardship.

While this niche may attract fewer brand partnerships than fashion or beauty, the audience is highly engaged, and the creators are deeply trusted. For brands that align with sustainability, wellbeing, and intentional living, this is a golden opportunity. The authenticity of gardening influencers allows branded content to cut through the noise in a way that feels natural and impactful.

Everything you need to know about growing potatoes in containers – one of my fave projects ever. Homegrown potatoes are easy, tasty and so fun to harvest. Potatoes come in lots of varieties and the varieties are divided in to three groups – first early (take about 12 weeks) second early (take about about 14-16 weeks) and main crop (16-20). You can try growing potatoes from the supermarket but it’s best to buy seed potatoes especially bred for growing from a garden centre or online. These are likely to give you better crops and come in a wide range of varieties to choose from. This year I’m growing first earliest ‘Swift’ and ‘Lady Christl’ and second earliest ‘Charlotte’ ‘Nadine’ and ‘Marfona’ (well I had to when I saw that name). I also love Red Duke of York. The potting mixes I tested last year were 1. Peat free compost and perlite 2. Peat free compost and garden soil 3. garden soil. I’m not saying some potting mixes might give you higher yields but lots of sunlight and plenty of water are more important factors. I start my potatoes from mid March, but bear in mind the foliage isn’t frost hardy so if it gets cold they will need some protection. This is just one of 40 projects in my new book ‘Give it a Grow’ which is out now and can be ordered via the link in my bio ☺️ – Happy planting! #potatoes #gardeningforbeginners
