2022 is at an end and over the last 12 months, we’ve seen some truly iconic moments from the world of influencers and content creators that have captured the attention of social media users around the world.

Keep reading to check out our very own Jake and Hannah’s top picks for their favourite influencer moments of 2022!

Molly Mae Hague announces her pregnancy (Hannah)

Probably the most recognisable influencer name in the UK, Molly Mae and her partner, boxer Tommy Fury announced they were expecting a baby back in September.

The video, which features a clip from their Love Island days, has since racked up over 10 million views on TikTok and nearly 35 million views on Instagram. The announcement was one of the most talked about of the year, congrats to both of them!

Mr Beast’s GOAT status is confirmed (Jake)

This was undoubtedly one of the biggest pieces of influencer/content creator news in 2022 for me. Back in November MrBeast aka Jimmy Donaldson surpassed Pewdiepie as the king of YouTube as his subscriber count hit 111,846,128, officially making him the most subscribed content creator on the platform and honestly, it’s about time 🤷

Mr Beast’s backlog of content is pretty crazy, from saying ‘Logan Paul’ 100,000 times, to giving away literally millions of dollars to complete strangers, to recreating his very own life-size Squid Game, to spending days buried alive, to giving away an island, to creating a burger chain in the middle of the pandemic and creating thousands of jobs – MrBeast truly is the greatest.

Congrats king 👑

The Useless Hotline podcast is released (Hannah)

Two of the biggest names in UK TikTok, Max Balegde and George Clarke did a fairly dramatic reveal of their joint podcast. The pair tricked followers into thinking they were taking a break from TikTok to pursue a new job, with many fans taking George dead seriously, but then soon clicking on it wasn’t that deep when Max did a similar video.

The Useless Hotline went to number one in the Spotify charts almost immediately, showing the true scale of their influence.

The Redemption of ComedyShortsGamer (Jake)

YouTube boxing has been going on for several years now and, love it or hate it, it has cemented its place as a way for creators to build out their platforms, make money and more importantly – settle beef.

One name that’s been involved in Influencer boxing since that start is Deji, formerly known as ComedShortsGamer. First fighting against Jake Paul (again, a bit marmite) back in 2018, Deji suffered a continued string of losses against YouTubers and TikTokers right up until his bout against YouTuber Fousey earlier this year when fighting on his Brother KSI’s promotion, Misfits Boxing.

Deji would win this fight by KO in the 3rd round, causing an eruption of joy from fans and content creators all over the world. Deji’s fanbase had grown in the build-up to this fight after his previous losses and several fallouts with his brother, there was no doubt the crowd was behind him that night.

Deji would go on to fight boxing’s GOAT, Floyd Mayweather in Dubai on the 13th of November, the fight would end in Mayweathers favour but Deji was, without question, the real winner that night!

Yung Filly and Chunkz host the MOBO awards (Hannah)

Now it’s not the first time the MOBO’s have been hosted by an influencer. In 2021, Munya Chawawa hosted the virtual version alongside Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock. But to have not one but two huge influencer names host and IRL this time, was a moment.

The funny duo did a great job, bringing out fellow YouTubers like Harry Pinero for a chat. It’s incredible to see these social media personalities get mainstream jobs that will only help catapult their careers further.

An Oscars full of Slapstick Comedy (Jake)

Okay, I admit it, not exactly ‘influencer’ but how can I not include such an iconic moment of 2022? The walk-on, the slap, the shouting, the memes, the subsequent apology video. It’s the moment that keeps on giving!

However, the awkward silence and second-hand embarrassment will live with me for a long, long time.

Jiggle Jiggle gets a remix (Hannah)

If you’ve been on TikTok for even 5 minutes in 2022, you’ve heard (or maybe danced to?!) Jiggle Jiggle.

The now iconic rap from Louis Theroux became a viral hit when he featured on mega influencer Amelia Dimoldenberg’s infamous Chicken Shop Date YouTube series. Not only did it turn into one of the year’s biggest dance crazes (thanks to UK dance TikTokers Brooke and Jessie), but it also got a revamp featuring Duke & Jones and “Jasoooon Derulooooo”. The song currently has over 84 million streams on Spotify!

Dream Drops the Mask (Jake)

2022 saw the resolve of one of the internet’s biggest mysteries… Dream’s identity.

Dream is one of YouTube’s biggest Minecraft content creators and has racked up a following of over 31M subscribers on his main channel, without ever showing his face!

So when rumours started circulating within the world of YouTube content creators that the face reveal was happening, the internet started to go a lil bit crazy (we’re talking conspiracy theory crazy). However, Dreams face reveal really started to take over the internet after he began facetiming some of the internet’s biggest content creators such as KSI, Tommyinnit, Keemstar & more, creating some serious buzz with fans and non-fans alike!

The reveal video dropped shortly after the hype had reached its peak and the video currently has 49M views.

What will be the next big mystery on the internet we wonder?

KSI and Logan Paul are in their Prime (Hannah)

At the very start of 2022, long-time rivals turned friends KSI and Logan Paul announced the launch of their energy drink, Prime

The release of the product caused a fair bit of chaos in Asda’s up and down the UK, with it being exclusive to the supermarket. Crowds of young fans stormed stores in the hope of getting their hands on it, with Asda resorting to limiting people to up to 3 bottles each. Honestly, we can’t think of a product that’s had this effect on UK consumers in a while, so to say this came from a couple of YouTubers (a slight understatement these days) is quite something.

What 12 months it’s been. Bring on 2023!
